Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said that “None of us are free until all of us are free.”. Unfortunately this is easier said than done. While this statement may be true, it is nearly impossible to be “free”. Everyone is at risk of constantly being judged and persecuted for their actions. There are many steps and processes to achieving freedom. One can not simply declare that a group is free because each person has their own definition of freedom. If it was something that could be grasped easily, there would be no need for protests or social movements. Not one person can be free from anything unless the rest of the population feels as though their personal needs are met. If they feel as though their needs aren’t met then they will simply attack those who appear to have a “free” life thus, taking away their freedom. Dr. King understood how big of a project it would be to try and achieve freedom for everyone. Freedom is only achievable if everyone is allowed to be their “True Self’s” without feeling ashamed of who they really are.
