Learning Outcomes 5 and 6

One of my goals for this class was to improve my ability to use proper grammar in essays. In my earlier drafts I did struggle with putting commas in the right place and comma splices. In class we used overview sheets with a THIS TIME/ NEXT TIME section. In my first essay I found that I had a weakness in my writing that I was not aware of. I tended to contradict myself throughout my first essay without even knowing it. The title of my essay was “Freedom is Unachievable” but my thesis was, “Freedom is only achievable if everyone is allowed to be their True Self without feeling ashamed of who they really are. “. Professor Spain pointed out that my thesis hints that there is a way to achieve freedom. I kept this in mind as I outlined the next English assignments I had. I relied heavily on the peer review process when it came to grammatical errors. My peers would point out errors that I did not notice at first and I would go back and fix them. I’m happy to say that the level of errors in my papers, decreased a lot throughout the semester.
